"You are Seven-Suns because you see in the light, and you will be Seven-Moons because you see in the dark...", that was how José Saramago "baptised" the main characters in his acclaimed novel Baltasar and Blimunda (Portuguese: Memorial do Convento). And we are now celebrating seven years since the inauguration of the Casa da Memória de Guimarães.
These years condense the light of many fulfilled dreams because the Casa is a place where imagination hovers; and also shadows, because it is in them that we seek to illuminate the path of hidden memories. On the 7th Anniversary of the Casa da Memória, the stories will nestle in the ear and the Robertos will spread wishes. The celebrations will continue well into the evening until we can no longer ‘Get up from the Floor’.

Guided Tours
Doors and windows open to the city and the world, inviting people and ideas, where they will find stories and meanings born from their encounters with extraordinary objects, times and places. Each visit is unique, with a route designed in accordance with each visitor’s curiosity.

POTTERY
Histórias de Cântaros e Cantarinhas • Maria Fernanda Braga
Guimarães’ pottery is made from clay and stories. Inspired by the unique jug, the Cantarinha dos Namorados de Guimarães, we will mould red clay on the potter's wheel. Hands in water, water in the clay, clay in hands… After a few turns of the wheel, small works will appear that can be decorated with sprinkled white mica.

PRINT TECHNIQUES WORKSHOP / PRINT ON FABRIC

We draw dreams: what we dreamed of yesterday and what we are dreaming about for the future. These drawings are handkerchiefs made of fabric, which we can fold and always keep close to us. These are pocket dreams! Travelling through the textile tradition and embroidery of Guimarães, we will print fabrics in a mixture of colours and other unexpected effects.

Revisitar a Regueifa Tradicional - A Coria da Liberdade • Cor de Tangerina
Revisitando as datas festivas tradicionais, facilmente encontramos produtos com detalhes que nunca ousamos experimentar. A Páscoa e a entrada da primavera brindam-nos com essa memória: os doces, o pão tradicional, as decorações, as flores e os pássaros – toda a natureza está em celebração. Desta vez, a Chef Liliana Duarte e o Chef Álvaro Dinis Mendes trazem, pelo toque multidisciplinar do projeto Cor de Tangerina, a memória da regueifa (ou rosca), que os padrinhos/madrinhas ofereciam aos afilhados/as na Páscoa. Um produto pleno em detalhes e com uma textura macia e elástica que irá ser recriada com algumas variações divertidas. A sua rara aparição, hoje em dia, no pescoço de uma criança, é o mote para esta oficina.

Retimbrar • Levantar do Chão
“Levantar do Chão” (“Getting up from the Floor”) is the new album by Retimbrar, released in 2022. It brings together songs learned and/or created over the last decade, in a journey of collaborations with Zés Pereiras drumming groups, folk dance groups and others. When performed live, "Levantar do Chão" is a collective celebration of popular Portuguese music, a mixture of original music and cover versions.
