MICA - Change and creative intervention in craftwork
PRESENTATION
Event
In Guimarães, one of the oldest creative acts applied to a functional object was the decoration of a mica red clay jar known as the Cantarinha dos Namorados. Without the application of clay motifs wrapped in Muscovite powder, the Cantarinha would have become extinct in the last phase of the Industrial Revolution, as was the case with many other utilitarian objects. For the MICA space (from Latin micare, to shine) we invite artisans, artists and designers to develop a programme of change and creative intervention in local crafts, in the form of an exhibition workshop. The presentation of this new creation space counts on the sharing of experiences of Cristina Vilarinho and Alberto Azevedo, over sixteen years, with their A2 Project.
Free entrance, according to the room capacity.
