“Showroom” is a site-specific show, held in a kitchen showroom, in an exercise of scenic (re)editing of memories that emerge from film images. This unconventional space is inhabited by a solitary performer who embodies and challenges the multiple meanings of a collection of different representations of women in the kitchen. By summoning cinematographic imaginary as dramaturgical and iconographic material, this visual writing dismantles, contradicts and complexifies the place of women in the world, dissecting stereotypes and rehearsing renewed interpretations. Manuela Ferreira and Rita Morais now propose to adapt the site-specific show for the stage, considering its challenges, through Teatro Oficina’s “Critical Creation” programme.
