The idea for this creative project was born within the context of research conducted by Ana Mafalda Pereira for her PhD thesis entitled - "As estrangeiras" (The foreign women). It aims to explore the peripheral place occupied by female artists working between art and education in Portugal, in the near past, and which still shapes the present. The analysis revolve around two personal archives: belonging to Isabel Alves Costa (1946-2009) and Glicínia Quartin (1924-2006). These women, actresses and educators, both during the period of the Salazar dictatorship and during and after the revolutionary process of national democratisation that began with the revolution of 25 April 1974, devised unique methodologies, approaches and educational strategies.
