Julia Jacklin

Music

Ages 6 and up

Julia Jacklin’s tour in Portugal will include an additional date (October 6), after the first show sold out quickly. During her European tour in September and October, the Australian singer-songwriter will perform in London, Paris, Utrecht, Madrid, and Barcelona. Guimarães is the only city in Portugal that will host the Melbourne artist, whose work has gained global recognition.

Since the release of her debut album, Don't Let the Kids Win in 2016, Julia Jacklin has earned a formidable reputation as a lyricist, crafting songs that are as raw as they are light and humorous. Her intentions were clear from her debut, as well as in the 2019 follow-up album Crushing. Her 2022 album Pre Pleasure was conceived when the artist returned home after an extensive world tour. The songs on this album expand her signature sound. Recorded in Montreal with co-producer Marcus Paquin (The Weather Station, The National), Pre Pleasure captures Jacklin’s reunion with the band that accompanied her on tour in Canada. Across the ten tracks, there are moments that reflect her inspirations, dating back to her childhood when she repeatedly listened to Celine Dion’s song “Because You Loved Me.” In Pre Pleasure, Julia Jacklin’s desire to explore new territories, both as a songwriter and producer, is evident. The album is the most authentic reflection of her being – an uncompromising and masterful lyricist, always willing to delve into the depths of her own life experiences and translate them into deeply personal and timeless songs.
