These workshops, like the jam sessions, are led by resident musicians who travel to Guimarães specifically at the invitation of the festival and stay in the city for two weeks in order to fulfil this educational purpose of paramount importance. This year, the workshops will be led by the quintet of saxophonist and composer Alex Hitchcock, featuring trumpeter Dave Adewumi, pianist Will Barry, double bassist Ben Tiberio, and percussionist Ananda Brandão. This ensemble will not only be responsible for the jazz workshops, but also for the festival's jam sessions, and will give a concert that is generating high expectations given the outstanding musical competence of the instrumentalists involved.
