From February to April 2026, a Cantarinha dos Namorados will circulate among 12 households in the municipality of Guimarães, remaining in each home for one week before moving on to the next. The stories kept in this reliquary of Vimaranense identity will be publicly shared at the literary gathering Contarinhar, to be held at the end of May 2026.
If you wish to take part in this collaborative project and host the Cantarinha, leaving within it your family’s love stories, please register using the available form.
Useful information
Passing on the Travelling Cantarinha
On Mondays or Tuesdays each week, the Travelling Cantarinha is passed on to the next household by the participants themselves, encouraging unexpected encounters between people previously unknown to one another. This process will be accompanied by a film crew and a representative from A Oficina’s Education and Cultural Mediation team.Image Rights
A short film about the project will be produced. Participants must therefore authorize the disclosure and publication of images by granting image rights to A Oficina.Interview
At the moments when the Cantarinha is collected, participants are asked to set aside two hours for set preparation and for the conducting and recording of an interview (to be included in the final film). Please note that the interview will take place inside the participants’ home.Participation conditions
Only applications from families with a home/address within the municipality of Guimarães will be accepted.Stories
All formats are valid for recording family stories, provided they physically fit inside the Cantarinha.Validation of registrations
Registration will only be considered valid after confirmation by A Oficina’s Education and Cultural Mediation team.
Project co-financed by the European Union through the NORTE 2030 Regional Program
A unique handcrafted product of essential preservation, the Bordado de Guimarães (Guimarães Embroidery) was the subject of an application submitted by A Oficina to the NORTE 2030 Program. Its approval and funding will enable the promotion of its social, economic, symbolic, and cultural value through a series of artistic creation and cultural mediation activities to be carried out throughout the year.
