FRIDAY APRIL 10, 11:00PM
Scúru Fitchádu (PT)
Event
Scúru Fitchádu [“Escuro Cerrado”] is Marcus Veiga and makes a direct reference both to Cape Verdean music and African-rooted sounds, a combative sonic approach within a disruptive electronic punk aesthetic where influences and intersections from vastly different musical universes converge.
It is the result of the experiences of an Afro-descendant with a Cape Verdean father and an Angolan mother, born in Portugal, who has accumulated diverse artistic stimuli and socio-geographical experiences, carrying all the vicissitudes that come with them.
The Scúru Fitchádu project was born in mid-2016, debuting the first self-titled EP Scúru Fitchádu the following year, a work strongly rooted in experimentation and the breaking of sonic barriers. In January 2020, the first full-length album, Un Kuza Runhu [“A Bad Thing”], was released, further confirming the distinct exploration and blending of sounds, earning it a place on the best albums of the year lists by specialized media, which still regard it as one of the freshest and most vital projects in recent times of national music.
The new album, "Griots i Riots", was released in the first half of 2025.
