Carlos Maria Trindade (POR)
Event
Carlos Maria Trindade was born in Lisbon in 1954. He enrolled at the Artistic School of Music of the National Conservatory, where he completed courses in solfège, harmony, counterpoint, and piano. In 1980, he founded the group Heróis do Mar with Pedro Ayres Magalhães and Paulo Pedro Gonçalves, and went on to focus on record production, working with artists such as António Variações, Delfins, and Xutos e Pontapés. In 1991, he released his first solo album, Mr. Wollogallu. Three years later, he joined the group Madredeus. In 2018 and 2019, respectively, he composed the soundtracks for two documentaries, 2077 – 10 Seconds to the Future and Deus Cérebro, both produced by RTP.
In 2023, the show Vitral Submerso premiered. His work blends electronic and acoustic sounds, and Maria Trindade is regarded as a pioneering figure in the production and experimentation of electronic music.
In 2025, Carlos Maria Trindade’s lost album, recorded in 1982 around the time of “Amor” (Heróis do Mar), was finally released. Described by the artist himself as cold wave, Tédio is in fact lighter than the average within the genre, as represented, for example, by John Foxx, Gary Numan, and the early Human League.
