Mizu
Event
Mizu is a choreographic trio, a landscape piece on water, a pas de trois performed by a dancer, an ice puppet, and her puppeteer.
Mizu, which means "water" in Japanese (水), brings together the worlds of the choreographer Satchie Noro and puppeteer and director Élise Vigneron.
Sparked by their encounter, this creation merges their approaches to materials and storytelling.
A tale of suspension, metamorphosis, ephemerality and mirrors.
On this thread between appearance and disappearance, Mizu celebrates impermanence, the fragility of existence as an ode to life.
Satchie Noro
She grew up in her father’s dojo and studied ballet intensively. After a brief period at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and joining various contemporary dance companies, she founded her own company: Furinkaï in 2002. An advocate for all-terrain dance, Satchie has created artistic objects of all sizes bridging disciplines through outdoors works.
Élise Vigneron
Trained at the École nationale supérieure des arts de la marionnette in Charleville-Mézières, Élise Vigneron is a stage director, puppeteer, and visual artist. She is the artistic director of Théâtre de l’Entrouvert, a company supported by the French Ministry of Culture. Her creations explore in depth the animation of ephemeral materials, inviting the audience’s participation through carefully designed immersive environments.
Satchie Noro
She took her first steps in the dojo of her father, an Aikido master and from an early age she studied classical dance. After a brief time with the Deutsche Oper Berlin and several artistic experiences in the Berlin and New York independent scene, Satchie Noro returned to France, where she joined various dance companies. In the 2000s, she began training in aerial circus arts. She was awarded the Jeunes Talents Cirque prize in 2004.
In 2002 she founded her own company, Furinkaï, while continuing to collaborate with other artists (Adrien M & Claire B, Carlotta Sagna, James Thierrée, Michel Schweizer, Mohamed Al Khatib, Pierre Meunier & Marguerite Bordat…). Since then, she has created over twenty works (shows, performances, installations, and films) that have reached a wide audience in France and abroad.

Throughout her career, Satchie has received several acknowledgements. In 1999 she was awarded a residency, with Alain Rigout, at the French Institute’s Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto and in 2012 she received the Hors-les-murs grant from the Institut Francais.
In 2017, she was selected as an Aerowaves Twenty17 Artist with her piece Origami, with builder-poet Silvain Ohl.
Élise Vigneron
A graduate of the École nationale supérieure des arts de la marionnette (Charleville-Mézières), Élise Vigneron founded Théâtre de l’Entrouvert in 2010, a company supported by the French Ministry of Culture. Her work delves deeply into the animation of ephemeral materials. At the 2019 Festival d’Avignon, she co-created Vive le Sujet! (SACD, Festival d’Avignon) with choreographer Anne Nguyen. Following this, she embarked on a research cycle around ice, combining participatory performance and scientific collaboration, which led in 2023 to the creation of LES VAGUES, a piece for ice puppets inspired by Virginia Woolf’s work, and in 2025 to MIZU, co-created with Satchie Noro.
Her projects unfold internationally, with collaborations in the United States, Germany, and Norway. She is an associated artist at La Halle aux grains in Blois (41) and at Théâtre de Châtillon (92), a companion artist at Théâtre Joliette in Marseille (13), and a collaborating artist with Vélo Théâtre in Apt (84).
