MAY 30 AND 31
Contarinhar Literary Gathering
Event
The Cantarinha dos Namorados of Guimarães stands as a materially rich symbol of the city’s cultural heritage, bringing together historical, social, and emotional dimensions of significant identity value. The literary gathering “Contarinhar,” organized in partnership with Livraria Rimas e Tabuadas, aims to establish itself as a space for dialogue between material tradition and contemporary literary expression, with the Cantarinha dos Namorados of Guimarães at its thematic core.
During the event, the winners of the “Contarinhar” Literary Competition—featuring over a hundred submitted texts—will be announced. The program will also include the presentation of the publication “Love Stories from the Travelling Cantarinha” and a documentary chronicling its journey through eight households in Guimarães, where families hosted a cantarinha and inscribed their own love stories within it.
