«Se esta casa fosse minha»: queria abri-la ao domingo
Event
Alberto Sampaio, the distinguished historian born and raised in Guimarães, was also deeply passionate about the fruits of the land. His documentary archive contains numerous studies and records on fruit growing, floriculture, horticulture, agriculture and viticulture in the Minho region. What better way to honour his passion than by celebrating the flavours and knowledge of our shared heritage?

Wonder Box: Instant Photography
Guilherme Monteiro
All ages
Instant photography is a hands-on analogue photography activity that uses a traditional technique for producing black-and-white photographic portraits on paper in just a few minutes. Historically associated with travelling folk photographers, this practice saw photographers journeying from village to village, fair to fair and festival to festival, offering portraits at a time when photography was not widely accessible. As such, it played an important role in making portraiture available to a broader public. Throughout this day, dedicated to exploring memories and heritage, everyone will have the opportunity to have their own instant photograph taken.
11:00 AM
Workshop
Curta-Bordagem
Joana Nogueira & Patrícia Rodrigues
Ages 6+
Designed for families and the general public, this workshop invites participants to discover and reinvent the visual language of Guimarães Embroidery through a collective creative process. Drawing on the traditional motifs that define this textile heritage, participants will deconstruct shapes, patterns and decorative elements to create new compositions and visual narratives.
Balancing memory and experimentation, embroidery becomes the starting point for a new artistic universe. The compositions created during the workshop will serve as the basis for animations to be incorporated into Curta-Bordagem, a community-produced animated short film that also welcomes the contribution of participating families. Rather than simply preserving a cultural legacy, this workshop sets it in motion—imagining, reinterpreting and carrying Guimarães Embroidery forward through the perspectives of different generations.
